Crest, Drôme (near Valence, South East of France): feminist family heritage and professional collaboration

I went to Crest with the big one at the end of August 2017. I remained in the garden of Suzelle, Daniel and their sons: Yan and Lionel. Suzelle is my father's cousin. I met her and her family very late in my life: I was more than 30, maybe 35! And the first time I met my cousin Yan was in April 2017, I had just turned 41. My mother, a narcissistic manipulator had achieved to isolate my father from his relatives (but I wouldn't say my father is a victim: it would be probably more correct to say that they had found in each other a complementary pathology).

Now, it's a garden I love going back to. Suzelle is an extraordinary woman, a feminist, a former nurse involved in the fight for the right to abortion in France, but also an ecologist and ... to sum up a great humanist. I am preparing a new section with interviews of exceptional women. There will be naturally one of Suzelle. Today, as many other women of my generation, I owe a lot to those fighters for social justice and gender equality.

Suzelle is also the painter Mireille Aguera-Hennecart's daughter who is still alive and is reaching 100-year old. Mireille worked on the colour and the right switch from one colour to another her entire life. Suzelle tries to promote her mother's paintings and colours theory, fighting against the inequality of the history of art where female artists are under-represented.

And Mireille was Francine Richard-Hennecart's niece: another painter and a poet. Francine is my great-grandmother and a powerful female model in the family. When she died, I was only 3-year-old. I can't say I knew her but,  despite my parents' mental disorder, I was brought up in her memory's cult. It helped me to believe that women could be strong and live by their own rules.

I have only one painting by Francine and Suzelle is the one who gave it to me. I'm deeply grateful for it and all her positiveness, good spirit, her inspiring respect for herself and the others.

Her place is also my cousin's company headquarter VertEcoHabitat. We plan to develop and test prototypes of micro mobile houses and nomadic devices.
